Used to season all kinds of dishes, fresh thyme has a pronounced, concentrated herbal flavour and is typically used in savoury dishes like braised or roasted meat, vegetables or fish.
It also works well to add depth of flavour to marinades, soups and stocks.
A sprig of thyme is a single stem snipped from the plant – when a recipe calls for a sprig it includes the stem and the leaves, where it states a teaspoon this comprises of only the leaves.
Fresh thyme is also packed with vitamin C and is also a good source of vitamin A.
